Hill named PL Offensive Player of the Week

April 5, 2004

GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart attackman Nate Hill (Hamburg/Hamburg, N.Y.) was named the Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week this afternoon. The junior scored four goals and assisted on five others in a 1-1 week for the Statesmen.

Hill began the week with a pair of goals in a 16-10 midweek loss to third-ranked Syracuse in the Carrier Dome. On Saturday, he led Hobart to a 13-9 Patriot League win over Bucknell matching career-highs in assists and points. During the Statesmen’s decisive 6-0 run in the second half, Hill earned assists on the fourth and fifth tallies of the run and scored the sixth. He also set up back-to-back goals in the fourth quarter, squashing any thoughts of a comeback by the Bison. He finished with two goals and five assists.

Hill is second on the team in scoring with 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points. He’s tied for fifth in the Patriot League in assists (1.62/gm) and tied for eighth in points (2.88/gm). In 35 career games, Hill boasts 34 goals and 47 assists for 81 points, the most among active Statesmen.

Hobart (4-4, 4-1 PL) returns to action at 7 p.m., on April 7, when the Statesmen host Colgate on McCooey Field. Hobart can lock up a spot in the Patriot League Tournament with a win over the Raiders.

The game will be broadcast live by WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3) with live Internet coverage available at: campus.hws.edu/athletics/hobart/lacrosse/live/xlive.htm.
