February 27, 2003 GENEVA, N.Y.The Hobart College lacrosse team will open the home portion of its 2003 schedule at 1 p.m., on March 1, at the Colleges AstroTurf Stadium. The Statesmen will play host to Patriot League rival Holy Cross. Tickets are $5 for adults, $1 for children under 12. Hobart posted a 13-3 victory over Butler University in the season opener for both squads in Baltimore on Feb. 23. The Statesmen will be in search of their fourth consecutive win in home openers. Hobart topped Colgate 20-5 in 2000, Army 11-9 in 2001, and Vermont 13-3 last season. The Black Knights were the last to disappoint the Statesmen fans in Geneva, topping Hobart 13-6 in 1999. Now in their 101st season, the Statesmen will unveil a new way for Hobart fans to follow the team at Saturdays game. For several years, fans have listened to WEOS-FM broadcasts via the airwaves and through the Internet. Beginning Saturday, fans will also be able to watch live stats, similar to those as ESPN.com and CBSSportsline.com. The Hobart and William Smith sports information staff will use a new lacrosse program from Stat Crew Software to give fans real-time game information, including individual and team statistics and play-by-play descriptions.
