Booth scores 2-pointer in Rattlers debut

LOWELL, Mass.--Two-sport standout Tim Booth '03 made his professional debut this evening, donning the red and gold of Major League Lacrosse's Rochester Rattlers. The Waterloo native made the most of his first game, scoring a two-point goal in a game the Rattlers won 18-17 in overtime against the Boston Cannons.

Trailing 11-9 late in the third quarter, Booth won the faceoff and rifled home his first professional goal, a two-pointer, with seven seconds remaining in the frame. The MLL awards two points for a goal scored from beyond 15 yards.

The first Statesman taken in the three-year-old league's collegiate draft (the 26th overall pick in the 2003 draft), Booth finished his first game with a two-point goal, four ground balls, and won 7-of-18 faceoffs.

A four-year letterwinner for the Statesmen, Booth completed his collegiate career with 40 goals, 17 assists, 255 ground balls, and a 459-354 faceoff record. A two-time first-team All-Patriot League selection, he helped Hobart to the Patriot League Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2000 and 2002.

An all-star on the gridiron as well, Booth finished his football career with 163 tackles, 11 interceptions, and 10 sacks, earning the 2002 UCAA Defensive Player of the Year Award. Booth was also a three-time All-UCAA and All-ECAC Northwest selection, while garnering D3Football.com All-American honorable mention in 2002.

Coincidentally, both the Rattlers' head coach, Guy Van Arsdale, and one of the his assistant coaches, Jacques Monte, are Hobart graduates, Classes of '83 and '90, respectively.
