GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College first-year midfielder John Soden (Delbarton School/Chester, N.J.) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week this afternoon after turning in a dominating performance against Lafayette College on Saturday. Meanwhile, senior attackman Mark Williamson (Corning East/Corning, N.Y.) was named the Rochester Area College Athletics (RACA) Co-Male Athlete of the Week.

The Statesmen’s faceoff specialist, Soden won 15 of the 19 restarts he took, while scooping up a game-high eight ground balls in an 18-7 win over the Leopards. In six games this season, he has won 61-of-115 faceoffs (.530) and collected a team-high 26 ground balls.

Williamson scored a game-high five goals and assisted on another against Lafayette. In six games, he already has produced more points than he did in twice as many games last season (26 vs. 23). Williamson is averaging 5.25 points per game in four Patriot League contests.

Hobart (3-3, 3-1 PL) returns to action at 7 p.m., on March 30, against third-ranked Syracuse in the Carrier Dome.
