October 22, 2001 GENEVA, N.Y.The Hobart lacrosse team closed out its fall scheduled in the University of Massachusetts Fall Invitational. The Statesmen notched wins over Fairfield 12-3, Dartmouth 11-9, and UMass 13-8. "Our goal was to finish the fall on a strong note," First-year Head Coach Matt Kerwick said. "UMass is one of the top teams in the country so it was a good measuring stick for us. It was a positive first step and we will build on it in the weight room during the off-season." Kerwick was especially impressed with the offensive performance of veterans:
Brian Joy, John Bogosian, andd Scott Harvey, as well as the emergence
of first-year Nate Hill. On the defensive side of the ball, John Lindstrom
and Preston Teague kept the pressure on the opposition, while first-years
Chet Braun and John Tammaro showed immediate potential. In goal, returning
starter Mike Borsz played very well. |
