GENEVA, N.Y.—Two Hobart soccer players were among those honored by the Liberty League this afternoon. Senior forward Micke Subotowicz (Farsta Gymnasium/Stockholm, Sweden) was named the Co-Offensive Performer of the Week, while first-year goalie Phil DaCosta (Manchester/Manchester, N.H.) grabbed the Rookie of the Week award.

Subotowicz scored twice in a 1-0-1 start for the Statesmen, converting a pair of penalty kicks. The first against Cortland on Sept. 1, lifted Hobart to a 1-0 win, while the second, at Geneseo on Sept. 3, sparked a late rally by the Statesmen who salvaged a 2-2 tie.

In his Hobart debut, DaCosta made three saves and posted a shutout of Cortland. Two days later, he made six stops in 110 minutes of action in the double overtime draw at Geneseo. For the week, DaCosta posted a 0.90 GAA and an .818 save percentage.

The Statesmen return to action at 4 p.m. on Sept. 8, at RIT. The Tigers have won each of the past two meetings, but, over the past nine seasons, the series is tied 4-4-1.
