Hobart, Geneseo settle for stalemate

GENESEO, N.Y.--The Hobart soccer team overcame a two-goal second half deficit to salvage a 2-2 tie this afternoon at Geneseo.

The Statesmen (1-0-1) fell behind in just the fourth minute of play, and faced a two-goal hole by the 58th minute, but Hobart refused to roll over. Senior Micke Subotowicz converted his second penalty kick in as many games to get the Statesmen on the board in the 65th minute.

With the tention and the drama building, senior Chris Rogers came through in the clutch, finishing a feed from Matt Schwartz with just 2:46 left in regulation.

Niether team managed a goal through the two extra sessions, although both teams put three shots on cage. First-year Phil DaCosta made six saves in net for Hobart.

The Statesmen return to action at 4 p.m. on Sept. 8, when they travel to RIT.
