Klotz named to Academic All-District first-team
November 4, 2004
GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College senior forward Ricky Klotz (Homer/Cortland, N.Y.) was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America to the CoSIDA College Division Men’s Soccer All-District I first-team. He also was named to the All-District first-team in 2003 and earned second-team honors in 2002.
Klotz is one of three forwards who will go on to the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America team, which will be released on Nov. 22. The student-athletes honored must be at least a sophomore, a starter or key reserve, and maintain a minimum 3.2 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
A four-year starter, Klotz led the Statesmen and the Liberty League in scoring this season with 12 goals and two assists for 26 points. He tallied at least two goals in five contests and notched a season-high three scores in a win over Skidmore.
An economics major, Klotz ranks second on both the career goals (40) and career points list (89), behind 2002 Hall of Fame Inductee and Hobart’s lone first-team All-American Jeff Saunders ’92. Klotz started every game the past four seasons, totaling 10 multiple-goal games and scoring at least a point 33 times.
In 2003, Klotz helped the Statesmen earn their first postseason berth in 10 years as the top seed in the ECAC Northeast Tournament. His 14 goals and 33 points last year rank fifth and sixth, respectively, on Hobart’s single season lists.
Hobart finished the 2004 season 5-12-0 overall and 2-5-0 in Liberty League play.
