GENEVA, N.Y.—Junior striker Tucker Crockett (Episcopal Academy/Rosemont, Pa.) netted the game-winner in the 81st minute to lead the Hobart College soccer team to a thrilling 2-1 Liberty League victory over Rensselaer this afternoon on a rain-soaked Cozzens Field. The Statesmen improve to an overall record of 7-7-2, 3-4-0 in conference action, while the Red Hawks fall to 8-6-2, 2-4-1 in the Liberty League.

Rensselaer senior forward Craig DiDomenico (Commack/Commack, N.Y.) opened the scoring in the 37th minute, converting on a pass from sophomore midfielder Kevin Grammar (Weymouth/Weymouth, Mass.) to send the Red Hawks into the break with the lead.

Sophomore midfielder Tyler Webster (Acton Boxboro/Action, Mass.) netted the equalizer in the 66th minute, when he flicked in a feed from senior forward Micke Subotowicz (Farsta Gymnasium/Stockholm, Sweden) off a direct kick. Webster recorded his third goal of the season.

The Statesmen completed the second half rally when Subotowicz slipped a pass from the right flank to a charging Crockett, who ripped his second goal of the season past Rensselaer netminder John Thibdeau (Bethlehem/Altamount, N.Y).

Hobart first-year goalkeeper Phil DaCosta (Manchester Memorial/Manchester, N.H.) turned away five Red Hawk offerings to record his fifth win of the season, while Thibdeau made six stops in the loss.

The Statesmen will close out the 2005 season on Oct. 22 when they host Fredonia at 1:30 p.m.
