ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Senior forward Micke Subotowicz (Farsta Gymnasium/Stockholm, Sweeden) netted two second half goals to lead Hobart to a convincing 3-1 road victory over the Tigers of RIT this afternoon at RIT field.
The Statesmen (2-0-1) opened the scoring at the 22:50 mark as junior midfielder Ben Crosky (Mountain Greylock Regional/Williamstown, Mass.) drove home his first goal of the season on a pass from Bradley Weinberg (Marcellus/Marcellus, N.Y.).
Subotowicz, who capitalized on a Tiger turnover, buried his third goal of the season pass RIT goaltender Dan Slocum in the 56th minute of play, widening Hobart’s lead to 2-0.
Less than four minutes later, the Tigers cut the Statesmen’s lead to 2-1 on a goal from Bruno Coehlo.
Hobart’s offensive catalyst, Subotowicz, converted on a penalty kick at the 72:09 mark to provide the Statesmen with an insurance goal. Subotowicz has scored on a penalty kick in three consecutive games.
First-year goalkeeper Pete Van Dellon (Webster Thomas/Webster, N.Y.) turned away three RIT shots to record his first collegiate victory.
The Statesmen return to the friendly confines of Cozzens Field on Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. as they host the Golden Eagles of Brockport.
