Subotowicz breaks Hobart career assists record

October 8, 2005

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—Hobart College senior forward Micke Subotowicz (Farsta Gymnasium/Stockholm, Sweden) registered his 27th career assist to break the Hobart record during a 3-2 conference loss to Union College this afternoon on College Park Field. Jeff Saunders '92 established the previous mark (26) between 1989 and 1992.

The Dutchmen (9-2-1, 4-0-0 Liberty League) opened the scoring in the eighth minute and padded their advantage in the 34th minute.

Hobart (5-6-1, 1-4-0) cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 46th minute as sophomore midfielder Tyler Webster (Acton Boxboro/Acton, Mass.) buried his third goal of the season off a set kick from 35-yards out. First-year Phillip Schoeniger (Lexington/Lexington, Mass.) headed in the equalizer at the 80:01 mark off a feed from Subotowicz.

Union netted the decisive goal less than two minutes later during a scramble in the middle of the box.

First-year goalkeeper Phil DaCosta (Manchester Memorial/Manchester, N.H.) turned away seven Dutchmen offerings in the loss.

The Statesmen will travel to Ithaca on Oct. 11. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
