GENEVA, N.Y.—No. 8 Hobart College and No. 24 Skidmore College played to a hard-fought 0-0 double-overtime tie in Liberty League men’s soccer action this afternoon. The Statesmen continue to sit atop the league standings with a 12-2-1 overall record and a 5-0-1 conference mark. The Thoroughbreds are now 13-2-1 and 4-1-1 in league play.

Hobart out shot Skidmore 13-9, but neither nationally-ranked team was able to connect in 110 minutes of play. At the end of regulation, first-year Sam Wisner (Wayland/Wayland, Mass.) had an opportunity to score on a breakaway one-on-one with Skidmore goalkeeper Jake Densen (Summit/Summit, N.J.), who made a crucial save to force the game into overtime.

In the 95th minute, sophomore Dan Riso (Red Hook Central/Red Hook, N.Y.) earned another chance to score for Hobart, but Densen made another great play to preserve the tie.

Sophomore goalkeeper Pete Van Dellon (Webster Thomas/Webster, N.Y.) recorded one save to earn his fifth shutout of the season for the Statesmen, while Densen finished with six saves for the Thoroughbreds.

Hobart will host Union College for the final Liberty League regular season game on Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. on McCooey Field. The Statesmen can clinch the regular season title with a win over the Dutchmen.
