September 3, 2005

BROCKPORT, N.Y.—The Hobart soccer team defeated Brockport 1-0 in overtime in the championship game of the Golisano Children’s Hospital Tournament this afternoon. Hobart improved to 2-0 overall, while Brockport dropped to 1-1.

The teams were evenly matched, as each took 10 shots and five corner kicks.

Sophomore Pete Van Dellon (Webster Thomas/Webster, N.Y.) totaled eight saves to lead the Statesmen.

First-year Grant Morrison (Gleniffer/Paisley, Scotland), sophomore Keenan Simons (Cardinal Mooney/Bradenton, Fla.), and senior Jamie Smith (Cheshire/Cheshire, Conn.) represented Hobart on the All-Tournament Team, while sophomore Dan Riso (Red Hook Central/Red Hook, N.Y.) was named Tournament MVP.
