GENEVA, N.Y.—Two Hobart soccer players earned Liberty League honors this afternoon, after leading the Statesmen to two Liberty League wins last week. Sophomore Philipp Schoeniger (Erlangen/Erlangen, Germany) was named the Liberty League Co-Offensive Performer of the Week, while first-year Sam Wisner (Wayland/Wayland, Mass.) was named Liberty League Co-Rookie of the Week. The Statesmen currently hold a 7-1-0 overall record and are 2-0-0 in league play.

Schoeniger scored two unassisted goals to lead the Statesmen’s offense last week. He netted the game-winner in a 2-1 win over Vassar on Friday, before going on to score Hobart’s third goal in a 3-1 win over RPI on Saturday.

Wisner recorded his second career goal as he connected on the only shot he took in two games, scoring Hobart’s first goal against Vassar to tie the match at 1-1. Wisner has been a consistent presence in the midfield from day one, and has played in seven of the Statesmen’s eight games so far this season.

Hobart will be in action on Sept. 26 when it travels to Rochester to take on St. John Fisher in a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
