Statesmen drop to Saints 3-1 in semifinal

CLINTON, N.Y.—The Hobart soccer team fell to St. Lawrence University 3-1 in the semifinal round of the Liberty League Tournament this afternoon. The Statesmen drop to 12-3-2, while the Saints improve to 10-5-2.

St. Lawrence started off strong, netting two goals in the first six minutes of play. Junior Tyler Webster (Acton-Boxboro/Acton, Mass.) scored in the 34th minute for the Statesmen, off an assist from classmate Greg Davidson (Union Springs/Cayuga, N.Y.) to cut the Saints’ lead to one. St. Lawrence took the 2-1 lead into the half, and added an insurance goal in the 85th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Pete Van Dellon (Webster Thomas/Webster, N.Y.) tallied seven saves for Hobart.

The Saints will play Skidmore in the Liberty League championship game tomorrow (11/4).
