GENEVA, N.Y.—Two Hobart soccer players were honored by the Liberty League this afternoon. Sophomore goalkeeper Pete Van Dellon (Webster Thomas/Webster, N.Y.) was named the Liberty League Co-Defensive Performer of the Week, while first-year Sam Wisner (Wayland/Wayland, Mass.) was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week.
Van Dellon improved his record to 7-0-0 after recording nine saves in a 2-1 win over Nazareth last week. He is ranked first in the league in goals against average (0.43) and in shutouts per game (0.57), and is ranked second in saves per game (5.29).
A midfielder, Wisner netted the game-winning goal in the 88th minute to lead Hobart past Nazareth last Saturday. The goal was Wisner's third of the season, and second game-winner. Wisner has played in 11 games this season, and started one.
The seventh-ranked Statesmen own a 12-2-0 overall record, and are undefeated in league play (5-0-0). They will return to action on Oct. 20, when they host Skidmore for a Liberty League match at 4 p.m. on Cozzens Field.
