October 23, 2006
GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart sophomore Pete Van Dellon (Webster Thomas/Webster, N.Y.) was named the Liberty League Men’s Soccer Co-Defensive Performer of the week this afternoon, after playing 220 consecutive minutes last weekend without giving up a goal. This is the second straight week that Van Dellon has received this award.
A goalkeeper, Van Dellon tallied nine saves in two games en route to his fifth and sixth shutouts of the season. Hobart recorded back-to-back scoreless ties with Skidmore and Union, securing the second seed in the Liberty League Tournament. Van Dellon stopped one shot against the Thoroughbreds and eight against the Dutchmen. He currently leads the league in goals against average (0.32), shutouts per game (0.67), and save percentage (.939).
The Statesmen will close out their regular season schedule on Oct. 28 when they travel to Fredonia for a game at 1 p.m.
