September 4, 2001

GENEVA, N.Y.- The Hobart College Soccer team is ranked ninth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Northeast Region poll after a 1-0-1 weekend. The Statesmen are one of four Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association teams ranked in this week's poll.

Hobart opened the season at the Penn State-Behrend Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Hiram College on Sept. 1. First-year forward Ricky Klotz (Homer/Cortland, N.Y.) struck for two goals and first-year forward Joel Andruski (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park, N.Y.) added a third. In the Championship game, Andruski scored the Statesmen's lone goal and junior goalkeeper Cory Rosier (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.) made 10 stops in a 1-1 double-overtime draw with Moravian College.

Hobart travels to SUNY-Geneseo on Sept. 5, at 4 p.m., before returning for their home opener against St. John Fisher College on Sept. 8, at 1 p.m.
