GENEVA, N.Y.—The Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association recently named Hobart College first-year goalie Carl Fried (Nacka Gymnasium/Alta, Sweden) its Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week ending Oct. 12.

Fried posted a .882 save percentage and 0.67 goals against average, helping the Statesmen to a 2-1 week. He anchored a Hobart defense that allowed just two shots on goal in a 3-1 victory over St. John Fisher. Returning to conference action three days later, Fried notched his second career shutout in the Statesmen’s 1-0 victory over Clarkson. He saved his best performance of the week for last, grabbing 13 saves in a 1-0 loss to fourth-ranked St. Lawrence.

He ranks second in the UCAA with 54 saves this season and has helped the Statesmen climb their way up to the sixth spot in this week’s NSCAA Northeast Region Rankings.

Hobart takes a week off before returning to match up with Alfred on Oct. 18, at 1 p.m.
