November 7, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y.The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) recently named Hobart College sophomore Ricky Klotz (Homer/Cortland, N.Y.) to the Verizon College Division Mens Soccer Academic All-District I second-team. Klotz is the only sophomore selected on either the first or second teams. Those on the first team will go on the national ballot for the Verizon Academic All-America Team. The student-athletes honored must be at least a sophomore, a starter or key reserve player, and maintain a minimum 3.2 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. A starter in all 19 games for the Statesmen, Klotz leads the team with 10 goals, including five game-winners. A 2002 UCAA All-Academic Team selection, Klotz was named to the 2002 Diadora-Dunkin Donuts Soccer Showdown All-Tournament Team earlier this season. After winning their final two conference matches, the Statesmen (10-7-2, 4-3-0 UCAA) are headed for the inaugural UCAA Tournament. Earning the fourth seed, Hobart will travel to play St. Lawrence in the first round of the UCAA Championships on Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. The winner advances to the championship game on Nov. 10, at 1p.m. in Canton, N.Y. The UCAA Tournament champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. |
