November 6, 2003 GENEVA, N.Y.Hobart College junior Ricky Klotz (Homer/Cortland, N.Y.) was recently selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America to the CoSIDA College Division Mens Soccer All-District I first-team. A second-team honoree a year ago, he is one of three juniors represented on the squad this year. Klotz will go on to the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America team, which will be release on Nov. 25. The student-athletes honored must be at least a sophomore, a starter or key reserve, and maintain a minimum 3.2 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. A three-year starter at forward, Klotz leads the Statesmen this season with 13 goals, including five game-winners, while his five assists and 31 points ranks second. He helped Hobart secure the third seed in the UCAA Tournament, scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Union. An economics major, Klotz ranks fifth on the single-season goals list and sixth on both the career goals (27) and single season points lists. His 13 goals this season is the most any Statesman has scored since 2002 Hall of Fame Inductee Jeff Saunders 92 had 18 in 1992. Hobart (13-5-1) travels to St. Lawrence to play in the UCAA Tournament on Nov. 8-9. Top seed St. Lawrence will match up with Skidmore at 11 a.m., on Nov. 8, while Hobart will take on second seed Hamilton College at 1:30 p.m. The winners will meet in the championship game on Nov. 9, at 1 p.m., for the conference title and the accompanying bid to the NCAA Tournament. |
