GENEVA, NY.—Hobart College junior forward Ricky Klotz (Homer/Cortland, N.Y.) was recently selected to the 2003 National Soccer Coaches Association/adidas ® of America Scholar All-East Region second team. The teams include players from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III colleges and universities, as well as NAIA institutions. He was one of just four players from Division III schools represented on the second-team.

A third-team All-Northeast selection, Klotz paced a high-powered Statesmen offense this season with 14 goals, including a league best six game-winners. He helped propel Hobart into the UCAA Tournament Championship, netting the lone goal in a 1-0 upset victory over No. 25 Hamilton College. A two-time all-conference honoree, Klotz’s 14 scores this season are fifth all-time, while his 28 career goals and 63 career points rank sixth and eighth, respectively.

An economics major, he was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I first-team this year after earning second-team accolades in 2002.

The Statesmen had an outstanding season, scoring a record 50 goals, earning their first postseason bid in 11 years, and climbing into the national rankings (16th) for the first time since 1992. Hobart posted a 14-7-1 overall record—just one win shy of matching the all-time wins mark— and advanced to the UCAA Tournament Championship before falling to sixth-ranked St. Lawrence 1-0 in double overtime.
