October 28, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y.A pair of Hobart College soccer players earned recognition from the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association this week after the Statesmen defeated Vassar 1-0 and Rensselaer 3-2. Senior goalie Cory Rosier (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.) and first-year Chris Rogers (Hebron Academy/Marietta, Ga.) were named the UCAAs Goalkeeper of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Rosier turned in two solid performances in Hobarts (10-6-1, 4-3-0 UCAA) two victories this past weekend. Against Vassar College, Rosier made six saves, including one on a penalty kick, to preserve the Statesmens 1-0 victory. The next afternoon, he pulled in two saves to earn his 10th victory of the season, the most in his four years at Hobart. Rogers netted two goals on the weekend for Hobart, including the game-winner against Vassar. The following day, he gave the Statesmen a 2-0 lead over the Engineers, heading a corner kick past the RPI goalie. Rogers is fourth on the team in scoring with nine points off of four goals and one assist. The Statesmen will play their final home game on Oct. 29, against Nazareth at 3 p.m. Hobart will then hit the road for its last regular season match at Fredonia on Nov. 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. |
