September 14, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y. The Hobart College soccer team returned to action after a one-week break. The Statesmen made the trip to Rochester, N.Y. to take on the Cardinals of St. John Fisher in an afternoon match. With steady rain coming down throughout the game, Hobart was unable to escape with a victory, finishing the 110 minutes in a 1-1 tie. First-year Ben Polk (Western Reserve Academy/W. Hartford, Conn.) gave the Statesmen the lead in the 38th minute with a nice chip over the Cardinals goalie. Hobart could not maintain its lead, giving up the tying goal in the 76th minute as Mike Dugbartey (Naugatuck/Naugatuck, Conn.) slipped it past Statesmen keeper Cory Rosier (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.). Rosier finished with seven saves on the afternoon, while St. John Fisher goalie J.R. Brau (Walpole/Walpole, Mass.) pulled in nine. Hobart returns to action on Sept. 17, hosting Ithaca at 4 p.m. The Statesmen kick off again on Sept. 18, at 4 p.m. against RIT. |
