Subotowicz earns UCAA weekly award

Micke Subotowicz

September 10, 2003

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association recently named Hobart College sophomore midfielder Micke Subotowicz (Farsta Gymnasium/Stockholm, Sweden) its Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. His two goals and three assists have helped the Statesmen soccer team off to a 2-1 start in 2003.

In the season opener, Subotowicz helped Hobart avenge last year’s loss to Geneseo by netting the game-winning goal on a free kick for the 2-1 victory. The following weekend at the Richard Stockton Tournament the sophomore captain collected five points in two games to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

Having a hand in every goal in Hobart’s 4-3 loss to Richard Stockton, he assisted on the game’s first two goals and notched the Statesmen’s final score on a penalty kick. Subotowicz continued his stellar play the following afternoon against The College of New Jersey by setting up junior Dan Abroms’ (Pomfret School/New Canaan, Conn.) game-winner for a 2-1 double overtime victory. Subotowicz leads the team in scoring with seven points on the season.

The Statesmen will open their home schedule on Sept. 13, against Brockport State at 1 p.m.
