Subotowicz collects pair of weekly honors

Micke Subotowicz

September 29, 2003

GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College sophomore Micke Subotowicz (Farsta Gymnasium/Stockholm, Sweden) was recently named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Offensive Soccer Player of the Week and the Rochester Area College Athletics Male Athlete of the Week after tallying six goals in three games.

Subotowicz was a one-man wrecking crew, leading the Statesmen to a 3-0 week and three consecutive five-goal games. He notched two goals in Hobart’s 5-0 blanking of Utica and posted an encore performance three days later with his first career hat trick in a 5-2 win over UCAA opponent Rensselaer. The following afternoon he continued his scoring rampage, netting the first goal in the Statesmen’s 5-2 victory over Vassar College.

With nine goals and four assists already, the second-year midfielder has nearly doubled his point total for all of last season. Tied for the conference lead in goals, assists, and points, Subotowicz is averaging 2.44 points per game this season.

Returning to the ninth spot in the NSCAA Northeast Regional Rankings, the Statesmen (6-3) will put their three-game win streak to the test when they host University of Rochester on Sept. 30, at 4 p.m.
