Cook snags Liberty League weekly award
November 15 , 2004
GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College senior Freddy Cook (St. George’s School/Greenwich, Conn.) was named the Liberty League Squash Performer of the Week after helping the 11th-ranked Statesmen to a 3-1 weekend to start the 2004-05 season.
Playing in the fifth spot in all but one match, Cook did not drop a single set on his way to a perfect 4-0 opening weekend. In his first match of the season, Cook blanked Mike Rogers of Navy 3-0 (9-5, 9-4, 9-7) as Hobart fell to the 15th-ranked Midshipmen 7-2. He continued his dominance later that afternoon against Brad Young of Denison University, winning 9-4, 9-4, 9-3.
On Sunday he downed Northwestern’s Kelvin Ko 9-6, 9-4, 9-4 and garnered his fourth straight sets victory of the weekend against Samir Patel of George Washington at the No. 4 position.
The Statesmen return to the courts on Nov. 20-21, at the Liberty League Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University.
