Statesmen win Conroy Trophy

NEW HAVEN, Conn.—The Hobart squash team won the 2007 Conroy Trophy, the D level championship at the College Squash Association National Championships at Yale University. The trophy is the first for the Statesmen since capturing the Summers Trophy (C level) in 1990.

Senior Prateek Patni closed out his collegiate career with a thrilling come-from-behind win at No. 1. After dropping the first two games 9-1 and 9-3, he bounced back to win the next three and the match 9-6, 10-8, 9-0.

Sophomore Cale Forgues (No. 2), first-year Nick Pearson (No. 3), sophomore Peter Hansen (No. 5), and senior Andrew McDonough (No. 8) swept their matches 3-0, while first-year Craig Chircop secured a 3-1 win at No. 9.

The Statesmen ended the season on a three-match winning streak and capped the campaign with a 7-17 record.
