November 23, 2003 CANTON, N.Y.--The Hobart squash team sliced through the field this weekend in the inaugural Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Championship at St. Lawrence University. The Statesmen posted a 4-0 mark in the two-day event to capture the league crown. On Saturday, Hobart dispatched the host Saints and the University of Rochester by identical 9-0 scores. The following morning, the Statesmen remained perfect with a 9-0 white-washing of Vassar. Only Hamilton managed to steal a point from Hobart, bowing to the conference kings, 8-1. Hobart used the same lineup all weekend. Junior Tejvir Rathore (Daly College/Indore, M.P., India), first-year Prateek Patni(Daly College/Indore, M.P., India), sophomore Gavin Johnstone-Butcher (St. Paul's School/Bulawayo, Zimbabwe), junior Andrew Scott (St. George's School/Aurora, Ohio), junior Henry Clutsam (Blair Academy/New Vernon, N.J.), first-year Tucker Crockett (Episcopal Academy/Rosemont, Pa.), senior Richard Reutter (Woodberry Forest/Annapolis, Md.), and first-year Andy Conrad (Millbrook School/Haverford, Pa.) led the Statesmen to victory. Hobart returns to action on Dec. 3, traveling to Rochester for a 6 p.m. match. |
