Statesmen creep closer to record with win over Navy

February 7, 2004

GENEVA, N.Y.—The 15th-ranked Hobart squash team defeated No. 16 Navy 7-2 at the Dr. Frank P. Smith ’36 Squash Center to improve its record to 12-6, one win shy of the school’s single season record. The Midshipmen fall to 14-9.

Hobart captured seven of the top eight positions in straight sets to secure the victory. The school record for wins in a season is 13, set by the 1993-94 squad led by Head Coach Chris Pentz.

The Statesmen will have their first shot at matching that benchmark on Feb. 14, when Vassar visits the Smith Squash Center. Hobart triumphed over the Brewers on Nov. 23, in the UCAA Tournament 9-0.
