GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College Squash Head Coach Carol Weymuller and junior Tejvir Rathore (Daly College/Indore, M.P., India) were named the 2004 Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Coach of the Year and Player of the Year, respectively. The Statesmen dominated the awards, placing four players on the first-team, while five others received honorable mention accolades.

Joining Rathore on the first-team were junior Henry Clutsam (Blair Academy/New Vernon, N.J.), sophomore Gavin Johnstone-Butcher (St. Paul’s School/Bulawayo, Zimbabwe), and first-year Prateek Patni (Daly College/Indore, M.P., India). Senior Richard Reutter (Woodberry Forest/Annapolis, Md.), juniors Freddy Cook (St. George’s School/Greenwich, Conn.) and Andrew Scott (St. Georges’s School/Dorset, Vt.), and first-years Andy Conrad (Millbrook School/Haverford, Pa.) and Tucker Crockett (Episcopal Academy/Rosemont, Pa.) each earned honorable mention.

In her ninth season at the helm, Weymuller led the Hobart squash team to new heights during the 2003-04 season. She guided the Statesmen to the inaugural UCAA Championship and helped them to a 15-9 overall record, the highest wins total in the program’s history. Under her tutelage, Hobart finished second in the Hoehn Trophy and 10th overall at the team championships, the squads best finish ever.

A three-time UCAA Performer of the Week, Rathore finished the season with an 18-9 record, including a perfect 6-0 against UCAA opponents. Playing all season at No. 1, he received the third seed in the Malloy Cup of the College Squash Association Individual Championships and advanced to the semifinal round. He boasts a 48-26 career record.

Playing in the top half of the lineup all season, Clutsam racked up a team-high 19 wins with an overall record of 19-9. He represented the Statesmen at the CSA Individual Championships, advancing to the semifinal round of the consolation draw before losing to the sixth-seeded Ben Schippers of Bates.

Johnstone-Butcher filled the No. 2 and No. 3 slots throughout the season, compiling a 17-10 record. A two-sport athlete as a member of the Hobart crew team, he has amassed a 28-16 record in two seasons on the squash court.

Playing in the second spot, Patni finished his rookie season with a 9-13 overall record and a 5-1 mark against conference foes. He was named the UCAA Rookie of the Week after going 3-0 to help the Statesmen capture the first UCAA Championship.

Manning the eight and nine positions for much of the year, Reutter closed out his swan song season with a 16-8 record. He earned UCAA Performer of the Week recognition after breezing to a 3-0 victory over Peter Bartholomaus of Hamilton. Reutter finished with a 31-22 career record with the Statesmen.

Cook started the 2003-04 campaign on fire, winning his first 12 matches, and ended the season with a team-best 17-7 overall record. He was named the UCAA Performer of the Week twice after a pair of undefeated weekends.

Splitting his time between the fourth and fifth spots, Scott compiled a 13-11 record on the year, including wins in eight of his first 10 matches.

Conrad amassed a 14-7 overall record in his rookie season, including a 10-0 mark to open the season. A two-time UCAA Rookie of the Week, he played in both the eight and nine slots for the Statesmen.

Filling the No. 6 spot, Crockett finished the season with a 17-7 record. He earned UCAA Rookie of the Week honors four times this season and posted a 6-1 record against UCAA opponents.
