GENEVA, N.Y.--The Hobart College tennis team ended a five-match losing streak, defeating visiting St. Lawrence University 4-3 in the Bristol Field House. The Statesmen impove to 4-7, while the Saints fall to 2-7.

All square at three points apiece, the match was decided by the sixth singles showdown between Hobart first-year Nick Raho (Wheeler School/Providence, R.I.) and St. Lawrence junior T.J. Rance (Wilton/Wilton, Conn.). With all eyes focused on the final pairing of the 4-hour and 15-minute match, Raho showed a poise and shot selection well beyond his years, dispatching Rance in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.

Hobart returns to action at 4 p.m., on March 30, when the Statesmen travel to Nazareth College.
