Silver honored by ESPN The Magazine again

District second-team pick Matt Silver

GENEVA, N.Y.—For the second straight year, junior tennis player Matt Silver (Weston/Weston, Conn.) was named to the ESPN The Magazine At-Large Academic All-District second team. A true scholar-athlete, he is majoring in biology with a minor in environmental studies.
Silver posted a 7-6 singles record this year, playing in each of the top four spots in the Statesmen’s lineup. He compiled a 6-7 doubles record, playing in all three spots in the order. Silver boasts a 36-19 (.655) career singles record. A two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and Liberty League All-Academic pick, he earned a spot on the 2004 All-Liberty League singles team and the 2005 All-Liberty League doubles team.
A standout in the classroom as well, Silver has earned a place on the Dean’s List in each of his first three years on campus. The 2005 recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa First Year Student Book Prize, he is a Hobart Scholar, a Hobart Deans Scholar, and a Faculty Scholar. Silver also earned the 2004 Chemical Rubber Company First-year Chemistry Achievement Award.
CoSIDA selects Academic All-District and Academic All-America teams in 12 programs: football, women’s volleyball, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball, softball, men’s track & field/cross country, women’s track & field/cross country, men’s at-large and women’s at-large.
