Skidmore defeats Hobart tennis 6-1

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart tennis team lost to visiting Skidmore College 6-1 in the Bristol Field House this afternoon. The Statesmen fall to 3-12 on the season, while the Thoroughbreds improve to 8-6.
Senior Adam Raffa (Concord-Carlisle/Concord, Mass.) earned the lone point for Hobart. He defeated Josh Rucker 6-3, 6-4 at second singles to improve his career singles record to 35-17.
Skidmore swept the rest of the singles matches.
The Thoroughbreds won the doubles point, but senior Matt Jacobus (South Burlington/South Burlington, Vt.) and sophomore Nick Raho (Wheeler School/Providence, R.I.) gutted out an 8-7 (7-1) victory at third doubles.
The Statesmen are back in action on April 12, when they travel to Hamilton. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
