GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart tennis team begins its quest for the Liberty League Tournament Championship against Vassar College, on April 22. The seventh-seeded Statesmen square off against the No. 2 Brewers at 9 a.m. on April 22 at the Josselyn Tennis Courts in Poughkeepsie in the tournament’s quarterfinals.

On the courts this season, first-year James Micheroni (Sharon/Sharon, Mass.) and sophomore Charlie Davis (Manlius-Pebble Hill School/Cazenovia, N.Y.) have paced the Hobart lineup. As the Statesmen’s top player, Micheroni has posted a 7-13 record, while Davis has split time between second and third singles, registering a 10-11 mark.

Hobart and Vassar have not faced each other on the tennis courts since April 28, 2001, when the Statesmen edged the Brewers 4-3 in the quarterfinals of the Liberty League Tournament.

The winner of the Hobart-Vassar match will face the winner of No. 3 St. Lawrence vs. No. 6 Rensselaer at 1 p.m. The championship match is scheduled for 11 a.m. on April 23.
