GENEVA, N.Y.—The Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association recently announced its 2004 All-UCAA Tennis team and Hobart College collected twice as many honors as any other school in the league. Junior Peter Piné (Princeton/Princeton, N.J.) was named Co-Player of the Year, while Head Coach Carol Weymuller and Assistant Coach Rich Lenhart earned the Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

Joining Piné on the All-Conference Singles team were sophomore Adam Raffa (Concord-Carlisle/Concord, Mass.) and first-year Matt Silver (Weston/Weston, Conn.), while the doubles team of Piné and senior Trevor McAndrew (Northfield Mount Hermon/Westerly, R.I.) received first-team recognition.

Playing exclusively in the No. 1 spot, Piné posted a team-high 20 wins this season, boasting a 20-3 mark overall and a 17-3 record in dual matches. He finished the season with a nine-match win streak, helping the Statesmen secure the league title. Piné also advanced to the quarterfinals in the ITA Northeast Singles Championship in the fall. For his career, Piné sports an outstanding 58-12 record.
In her ninth year at the helm, Weymuller led the Statesmen to the UCAA Championship and a program record 17 wins. Hobart’s .850 winning percentage is the program’s best since 1982 (10-1, .909). During her nine seasons, Weymuller has compiled up a 91-88 (.508) record.

A two-time UCAA Performer of the Week, Raffa posted the best record on the team at 18-4, including a 17-2 mark in dual matches at No. 3 primarily. He won nine of his final 10 matches of the season and was undefeated against conference opponents during the regular season. Over the course of his two seasons with the Statesmen, he has sports a 29-9 record.

The lone rookie in Hobart’s starting six, Silver finished the year with a 17-5 record at the No. 4 spot. He was 9-1 in his final 10 matches of the season and was a perfect 4-0 against UCAA foes.

The doubles tandem of Piné and McAndrew posted a 17-6 record as the top doubles team. They advanced to the ITA Northeast Doubles Championship match, falling to the top-seeded team 9-7. Playing together in each of the past three seasons, McAndrew and Piné are 34-19 at the top doubles spot.

Capturing the UCAA Championship for just the second time, the Statesmen finished the season at 17-3, the most wins in the program's 69 seasons. The Statesmen's .850 winning percentage is the seventh highest in the program's history and the best since the 1982 club went 10-1 (.909).
