HWS sailing 7th at Admiral Moore Regatta

THROGS NECK, N.Y.—The Hobart and William Smith College sailing team competed in the Admiral Moore Regatta this past weekend, taking seventh place in the 18-team field. Hosted by SUNY-Maritime College, Brown captured top honors with a low score of 143, while MIT finished in the runner-up spot.

Sailing in the A division for HWS were sophomore skipper Brian Clancy (Boston College/Scituate, Mass.) and senior crew Kate May (Cranston East/Cranston, R.I.). The duo combined for five top-three finishes in 16 races to earn fifth place in the division with 112 points.

In B division racing, senior Wiley Wakeman (Groton School/Cohasset, Mass.) and first-year Kate Wilson (Prout School/Hope Valley, R.I.) sailed to a top-10 finish in 10 outings, garnering a victory in the 16th and final race for seventh place with 132 points.

HWS, ranked seventh in the most recent Sailing World College Rankings, returns to the water on March 19-20, at the Truxton Umsted Regatta at Navy.
