April 18, 2005

WASHINGTON—The Hobart and William Smith College sailing team traveled to Georgetown University this past weekend to compete in the Robert P. Competing in the A division for the Colleges were senior skipper Emlie Barkow (University Lake School/Nashotah, Wis.) and first-year crew Kate Wilson (Prout School/Hope Valley, R.I.). The duo earned four top-five finishes and edged Washington College by four points for fifth place in the division.

In B division racing, it was sophomores Kate Brush (Champlain Valley Union/Hinesburg, Vt.) and Kate May (Cranston East/Cranston, R.I.) taking fourth place with eight top-five finishes in the 12 races, including a victory in the sixth outing.

Ranked third in the most recent Sailing World College Rankings, HWS will compete in the MAISA Women’s Dinghy Championships, the MAISA Open, and the Thompson Trophy on April 23-24.
