Hobart sailors compete at Navy Laser Open

ANNAPOLIS, Md.—The Hobart College sailing team competed in the Navy Laser Open this past weekend. Hobart sent three racers down to the Naval Academy in what was a very competitive field. The top six advance to the Mid Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association Singlehanded Championship on Oct. 9-10, at the Naval Academy.
First-year Jay Mills, sailing for his first time for the Statesmen, captured fifth place to advance to the district championship with four top-five finishes in 14 races.
Senior Wiley Wakeman(Groton School/ Cohasset, Mass.) had four top-ten finishes for 14th place, while sophomore John Keating(Main Land Regional/Linwood, N.J.) finished in 21st place overall.
The HWS sailing team will sail again in three different events on the weekend of September 18-19.
