William Smith competes at Navy Spring Intersectional

ANNAPOLIS, Md.—The William Smith College sailing team opened its 2005 racing season at the Navy Spring Women’s Intersectional this past weekend. The Herons finished the two-day competition in 12th place of 14 teams. Brown won the regatta with a low score of 129, while Charleston took runner-up honors.
Senior Emlie Barkow (University Lake School/Nashotah, Wis.) and sophomore Kate Brush (Champlain Valley Union/Hinesburg, Vt.) competed in the A division, taking 12th overall with 133 points. The duo combined to earn seven top-10 finishes in 14 races, including capturing the third spot in the third race.
Sailing for the Herons in the B division were sophomore Lauren Anderson (New Canaan/New Canaan, Conn.) and senior Kate Kana (Gunston School/Easton, Md.). The pair finished among the top-10 boats four times for 13th place in the division.
William Smith returns to action on March 19-20, traveling to St. Mary’s City, Md., to compete in the St. Mary’s Women’s Intersectional.
