Hobart seventh at Pine Trophy

September 12, 2004

NEW LONDON, Conn.—The Hobart and William Smith sailing team competed in the Pine Trophy Intersectional this past weekend at the Coast Guard Academy, finishing seventh of 10 teams. University of Charleston won the event with a low score of 18, while host Coast Guard grabbed runner-up honors.

The teams raced seven races in team race format on Saturday and were unable to complete the final three races the following day because of no wind. Sophomore Brian Clancy (Boston College/Scituate, Mass.), sophomore Zach Goldman (Lutheran/Huntington, N.Y.), and sophomore Nate Owen (Upper Arlington/Columbus, Ohio) competed for Hobart, finishing among the top-five in four of the seven races to finish the weekend with 37 points.
