HWS leads after Day 1 of America Trophy Regatta

NORFOLK, Va.—The first 18 races of the 2006 America Trophy Regatta were sailing on Saturday and top-ranked Hobart and William Smith sits atop the 18-team standings, 12 points better than second place Kings Point.

Ten races were sailed in the A Division. HWS won the second race and finished in the top five in six others, recording 48 points second only to Georgetown.

Eight races were sailed in the B Division. The Colleges dominated, winning three races, finishing second in three more, and placing fifth and sixth in the other two races.

Racing will be completed today. The winner, as well as the top two runners up, qualify for the 2006 ICSA Coed Dinghy North American Championships.
