HWS takes Jack Wood Trophy

ENFIELD, N.H.—The Hobart and William Smith sailing team breezed to a first-place finish at the Jack Wood Trophy regatta, hosted by Dartmouth College on Mascoma Lake last weekend. HWS Combined for a low 110 points, 29 less than the runners up from the University of Rhode Island. Seventeen teams participated in the event.

Senior Trevor Moore (Woodstock Union/Pomfret, Vt.) and sophomore Sarah Borup (Toms River South/Pine Beach, N.J.) teamed up to win the A division, finishing in the top three seven times in 12 races for a total of 56 points.

In the B division, seniors Brian Clancy (Boston College/Scituate, Mass.) and Mandi Markee (Torrey Pines/Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) finished six of the 12 races in the top three, totaling 54 points.

HWS also placed first out of 16 teams at the Fall North No. 2 regatta at New York Maritime, and 12th out of 21 at the Women’s Intersectional at Yale last weekend.
