GENEVA, N.Y.—The Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) has announced the 2006 All-Academic Sailing Team. Among the honorees is William Smith College graduate Molly Lawson ’06.
A Duxbury, Mass., native, Lawson was named to the honorable mention list. She graduated in May 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in art and education. She was also named to the ICSA All-America Crew Team for her efforts last season.
As a junior, Lawson helped HWS to its first national championships, winning both the ICSA/Layline North American Team Race Championship and the ICSA/Gill North American Coed Dinghy Championship. As a senior, she helped the Colleges to a third place showing in the ICSA/Layline Team Race Championship and led the Herons to a 10th place finish in the ICSA Women’s Championship.
This is the first time the ICSA has named an All-Academic Team. The nine first-team honorees had a minimum grade point average of 3.76, while the 10 honorable mentions all had GPAs of 3.54 or higher.
