ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Hobart senior Trevor Moore (Woodstock Union/Pomfret, Vt.) sailed to a second-place finish at the MAISA Men’s Singlehanded Championship last weekend, while teammate Rob Crane (Holderness School/Darien, Conn.) placed fourth out of the field of 16.

With the top-five finishes, both Moore and Crane qualified for the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association Men’s National Singlehanded Championship, which will be held at Roger Williams University on Nov. 3-5.

Moore tallied 87 points and six first-place finishes over 16 races, 10 points more than the winner, while Crane ended the weekend with 102 points and six top-three finishes. Senior John Keating (Mainline/Linwood, N.J) also competed for the Carl Van Duyne Trophy, coming in 16th for the Statesmen.

The sailing team also took a first-place team finish out of 17 teams at the HWS Fall Intersectional last weekend, and finished ninth out of 16 teams at the Navy Fall Women’s Regatta.

The Statesmen will be back on the water on Oct. 14-15 when it travels to Maryland to participate in the Fall Intersectional at Navy, while the Herons will travel to the Women’s Intersectional at Yale and the Fall No. 2 North Regatta at N.Y. Maritime.
