HWS sailing takes 3rd at Truxton Umsted

ANNAPOLIS, Md.—The Hobart and William Smith sailing team finished third in the 20-team field at the Truxton Umsted Regatta hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy March 18-19.

HWS junior Trevor Moore (Woodstock Union/Pomfret, Vt.) and sophomore Jay Mills (Hotchkiss School/Greenport, N.Y.) both posted third place showings in the C and D Divisions, respectively. Moore placed in the top five in 12 of the weekend’s 20 races, while Mills earned 11 top-five finishes.

First-year John Sampson (St. George’s School/Rumson, N.J.), senior Molly Lawson (Noble & Greenough School/Duxbury, Mass.), and senior Zach Goldman (Lutheran/Huntington, N.Y.) took sixth place in the B Division, while junior Brian Clancy (Boston College/Scituate, Mass.), sophomore Jamie Landi (Salisbury School/Salisbury, Md.), and junior Amanda Markee (Torrey Pines/Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) were eighth in the A Division.
