Herons finish 5th in MAISA Women's Dinghy Championship

KINGS POINT, N.Y.--William Smith placed fifth out of 13 teams in the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) Women's Dinghy Championship this weekend. The Herons were just four points shy of fourth place Georgetown and 13 points behind the winning team from Old Dominion.

In the A division, William Smith placed second behind the efforts of seniors Mora O'Malley (Totino Grace/Dellwood, Minn.) and Kate May (Cranston East/Cranston, R.I.). The duo finished in the top four in all but two of the weekend's nine races.

In the B division, juniors Emlie Barkow (University Lake School/Nashotah, Wis.) and Kate Kana (Gunston School/Easton, Md.) placed fifth, just a single point behind fourth place Cornell.
