April 14, 2002

KINGS POINT, N.Y.--The Hobart and William Smith sailing team finished sixth at the Admiral's Cup hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy this weekend. Racing was limited to Saturday due to lack of wind. Winds came out of the southwest all day, increasing from 5-10 knots in the morning to 10-15 knots in the afternoon. Six races were sailed in the morning and six in the afternoon on trapezoidal courses. The A and B Divisions switched from V-15's to FJ's after the 10th race, while the C Division sailed lasers. Junior Sam Rogers and sophomore Alexis Rubin finished 13th in the A Division with a score of 118. Finishing 7th in the B division were sophomores Ed Norton and Oscar Barney with 87 points.
