        6 HWS sailors 
          named to All-MAISA team title

      GENEVA, N.Y.  Six members of the Hobart and William Smith Colleges 
        sailing team were named to the All-Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing 
        Association team for the fall season. Coed skippers sophomore Ed Norton 
        (Tabor Academy/Fair Haven, N.J.) and junior Sam Rogers (Breck School/Excelsior, 
        Minn.), womens skippers junior Amanda Callahan (Notre Dame Academy/Canton, 
        Mass.) and junior Sonya Smith (Falmouth/Falmouth, Mass.), and crew selections 
        junior Cate Brown (Tabor Academy/Marion, Mass.) and junior John Cline 
        (St. Georges School/Stuart, Fla.) represent the Colleges on the 
        All-District team. 
      During the fall, the sailing team was among the nations best, completing 
        the 2001 portion of its schedule ranked fifth by Sailing World. Hobart 
        and William Smith participated in 21 team events, finishing in the top-five 
        15 times, and winning three competitions.  
      The sailing team opens the spring season at the Georgetown Team Race 
        Invitational on March 2. 
      Hobart and William Smith Colleges are coordinate, private, liberal arts 
        institutions, located in Geneva, N.Y. Hobart College for men and William 
        Smith College for women share faculty, facilities, and curriculum, but 
        maintain separate dean's offices, athletics programs, student governments, 
        and traditions. Hobart and William Smith field 21 intercollegiate varsity 
        teams. Over the past 30 years, the Colleges have captured 20 national 
        championships and dozens of conference championships.
