Angell named All-American Crew

June 12, 2002

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College senior sailor Sarah Angell (Kent Place/Far Hills, N.J.) was named an All-American Crew by the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA). Angel was a member of the Herons A Division boat in the 2002 ICSA Women’s North American Championships, May 29-31.

William Smith earned a spot in the national championships by capturing the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) Women’s Championship April 20-21 on Seneca Lake. Angell helped the Herons to their second district title in the past four seasons leading the A Division boat to the top spot with a regatta-low 22 points.

At the national championships hosted by the University of Hawaii, William Smith’s A boat struggled, managing just two top-10 finishes in 18 races. The Herons finished 13th out of 18 teams in the A Division and 12th in the overall championship standings.

Hobart and William Smith Colleges are coordinate, private, liberal arts institutions, located in Geneva, N.Y. Hobart College for men and William Smith College for women share faculty, facilities, and curriculum, but maintain separate dean’s offices, athletics programs, student governments, and traditions.
